Images of Hope

Classes are offered free of charge to patients and caregivers in El Dorado County who have been impacted by cancer. You do not need to have any experience with art or movement classes to sign up. Our objective is to offer a healing environment where you can take some time for yourself and enjoy the company of others.  Most of our classes are held at the Marshall Cancer Resource Center in Cameron Park, unless otherwise noted.

Yoga & Mindful Movement

A four week series each Monday begins June 3rd-24th.  The class focus will be “resiliency.” Through connecting with our body/hearts/minds, we develop resiliency: the capacity and ability to recover or adjust to misfortune or change.

Yoga @ 2:15-3:30PM

Mindful Movement @ 4:00-5:15PM.


Tranquil Journeys Guided Meditation

Reconnect with your inner peace, and relax to the sounds of Tibetan singing bowls. Each session will explore self-help stress reduction methods, acupressure or energy healing. Inspirational meditations such as guided imagery, poetry, and mantras will be used along with the sounds of the bowls to create and environment for inner healing. Individual relaxation session are also available- call to find out more!

Art in Public Places

Marshall Cancer Services partners with the El Dorado Arts Council (EDAC) to feature a rotating art exhibit as part of Art in Public Places. The art will be displayed in the Cancer Resource Center Classroom.


Equine Therapy

Images of Hope has partnered with Windows to My Soul, a place where humans and horses come together in a healing and transformative growth environment. Sessions focus on work on the ground rather than riding and are weather permitting. Call us for a schedule of classes and for more information.


Pilates

Cindy is back to teach Synergy Pilates for a little “movement” therapy!  Learn the foundational principals of Pilates while developing strength, flexibility, balance and reconnecting to your inner strength. Beginner classes are available to get you up to speed! See how these gentle low impact exercises can help you to move more efficiently in your everyday activities!

Art Classes at Fine Arts School in the Pines
Images of Hope will sponsor a month’s worth of classes at Fine Arts School in the Pines. Classes range from oil painting to watercolor to pottery. More information here


Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

Images of Hope will sponsor one series or one month’s worth of open studio plus any class at Athena Art Spa in Placerville. Expressive Arts, unlike traditional art instruction, emphasize the process of creation rather than the final product.  Athena Art Spa will bill us directly.

Qigong
Qigong (pronounced “chee-gong”) is a relaxing, healing form of movement that can be done by people of all ages and abilities either standing up or sitting down.
