Images of Hope

Classes are offered free of charge to patients and caregivers in El Dorado County who have been impacted by cancer. You do not need to have any experience with art or movement classes to sign up. Our objective is to offer a healing environment where you can take some time for yourself and enjoy the company of others. 

Most of our classes are held at the Marshall Cancer Resource Center in Cameron Park, unless otherwise noted.

Rock Painting Class

This class is relaxing and fun! All supplies are included. Your instructor, Pam, will show you how enjoyable painting rocks can be!  Keep them or give them away.  Please call us to reserve your spot- no experience needed.

Creative Journaling & Watercolor Series

This relaxed class will serve as a platform to journal and watercolor. All supplies are included. No writing or artistic experience necessary! More details to follow. Reservations are required.

5- Week series held on Tuesdays at 11:00am-12:30pm. October 1st-29th.


Learn to Knit with Yarn Therapy for the Soul

Learn to knit with Theresa from One Thread. You will start with basic knitting skills, then move on to your first project.  All supplies are included. Theresa will be there to help you fix mistakes along the way, and before you know it, you’ll be knitting on your own.  Knitting has been proven as a therapeutic and healing tool to help alleviate stress and promote confidence, peace and connection to those who live under duress from work, illness or trauma.                                      Reservations are required. Cathie’s Paint Party Art Class

Paint your very own masterpiece with instruction from professional artist, Cathie. You will leave this class having painted a beautiful pumpkin on canvas- perfect for decorating for fall. No experience necessary- you will be surprised what you can paint with a little instruction! All supplies are included. Reservations are required.

Tranquil Journeys Guided Meditation

Reconnect with your inner peace, and relax to the sounds of Tibetan singing bowls. Each session will explore self-help stress reduction methods, acupressure or energy healing. Inspirational meditations such as guided imagery, poetry, and mantras will be used along with the sounds of the bowls to create and environment for inner healing. Individual relaxation session are also available- call to find out more!

Yoga & Mindful Movement

Please come and be together in Yoga (union of mind/body/heart). In this solid and bright yoga practice; we move, we breathe, we remember again our inherent nature of peace, and equanimity; which offers us the resiliency to meet life with greater ease and well-being. Linda is a RYT 500, certified iRest Yoga Nidra,and has taught and studied many styles of yoga for over 25 years. Classes are offered on a series-basis. Normally held on Mondays. Equine Therapy

Images of Hope has partnered with Windows to My Soul, a place where humans and horses come together in a healing and transformative growth environment. Sessions focus on work on the ground rather than riding and are weather permitting.

Pilates

Cindy is back to teach Synergy Pilates for a little “movement” therapy!  Learn the foundational principals of Pilates while developing strength, flexibility, balance and reconnecting to your inner strength. Beginner classes are available to get you up to speed! See how these gentle low impact exercises can help you to move more efficiently in your everyday activities!

Art in Public Places

Marshall Cancer Services partners with the El Dorado Arts Council (EDAC) to feature a rotating art exhibit as part of Art in Public Places. The art  is displayed in the Cancer Resource Center Classroom at the Marshall Cancer Center in Cameron Park. 


Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

Qigong (pronounced “chee-gong”) is a relaxing, healing form of movement that can be done by people of all ages and abilities either standing up or sitting down.

Every Monday 9:00-10:15AM at the Veterans Building in Placerville.
